Steganography - Hide Data within data without using any software.

What is Steganography ???

Steganography is the art and science of writing hidden messages in such a way that no one, apart from the sender and intended recipient, suspects the existence of the message, a form of security through obscurity. The word steganography is of Greek origin and means "concealed writing" from the Greek words "Steganos" meaning "covered or protected", and "Graphei" meaning "writing". The first recorded use of the term was in 1499 by Johannes Trithemius in his Steganographia.(More info here..).

Today I am gonna show you how we can Hide Data Behind Images without using any software.

Step: 1. First of all create a folder in any drive as your choice but I have used C drive in this tutorial, now give any name to that folder whatever you want.I have created a folder named WhiteHatZone in C drive.

Step: 2. Now copy all files you want to hide and also that image into which you want hide data. As you can see in below picture I have copied two files 1.GJ.jpg and 2.Secret.txt in WhiteHatZone folder.
I have written written something secret matter in Secret.txt file.which I want send one of my friend and I don't want to let any other see it.

(Just joking :-D You can write anything you want to hide...)

Step: 3. Select the file you want to hide and add it to archive, select it and right click and add to archive. In short add it in Winrar. As I have added Secret.txt.

Now as you can see new Winrar file named "Secret.rar" has been created in folder.

Step: 4. Now open command prompt (Start > All programs > Accessries > command Prompt or Windows key + R type cmd press Enter) and change your root to your current drive as shown in below picture.
From command prompt enter into C drive and then enter your folder as I entered into whiteHatzone. And type the following command.

Copy /b Gj.jpg + Secret.rar hidden.jpg

(Here hidden.jpg is output file, you can give any name to your output file, but I have used hidden.jpg here.)

After executing above command you will see message like 1 file copied, if you don't see that message then you have done mistake.

Here "GJ.jpg" is the image behind which I want to hide data.
"Secret.rar" is the file having Secret.txt file which I want to hide.

"hidden.jpg"is the output file having hidden data into it.
After all these processes a new file has been created in the folder, you see an extra image called “hidden.jpg” as shown in below picture.

Now you can delete all the files except "hidden.jpg".
If you double click "hidden.jpg", it opens a normal image.

But you can see the hidden files by opening the file with Winrar.
